Context-Aware AI: Why LLMs Alone Aren't Enough
On the empty space between information and action — and why closing it is a different problem from making the model better.
An LLM drafts the follow-up email in ten seconds. Then I open Mail, find the address, copy, paste, send — and the model never knew who I'd met, what we discussed, or how I write. That small friction is the biggest limit in AI today.
Write nextOpen with the specific scene. Which meeting, which follow-up, what you actually had to do by hand. Two or three sentences of a real moment beat a paragraph of abstraction — and it earns the argument that follows.
The information gap is closed
Write nextEstablish what is genuinely solved. Retrieval, summarisation, drafting, translation. Be concrete and be generous here — the argument is stronger if you concede how much has been won.
The action gap is not
Write nextName the gap precisely and show it costs something. The claim to defend: this is a different class of problem, not a smaller version of the first one.
You don't cross it with a faster model, lower latency, or higher accuracy. You cross it with an AI that understands your context.
What context actually means
Write nextBreak the word into its parts so it stops being a buzzword. A working split: who you are and how you write · what you're in the middle of · what you can act on. Then give one real example per part, from your own week.
Why a bigger model doesn't fix it
Write nextThe counter-argument section. Steelman "scale solves this," then say what it misses. This is where your four-layer view earns its keep — the gap sits between the layers, not inside the model.
Where I'm watching this go
Write nextClose by pointing at the rest of the series: the glasses, the memory, the VLA models, the carriers. Say what would change your mind. Land on one sentence a reader could repeat to someone else.
